1. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR LPF COLLEGE TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM?
Primarily Puerto Rican/Latino High-School students in the New York City/New Jersey metropolitan area.
2. WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?
- Be the first generation in the family to attend college
- Meet federal guidelines for low income families
- Apply to an accredited postsecondary institution
- Be a United Stales citizen or legal resident
- Have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
3. WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING FOR THE CTA PROGRAM?
Deadline is JANUARY 16, 2016, with all of your supporting documents due

4. IS THE LPF COLLEGE ORIENTATION MANDATORY?
YES, you must be able to participate in the ONE time College Orientation which will be held the week of high school spring break, once you are accepted as a CTA recipient. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE STIPEND IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND.
5. WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR COMPLETING THE COMMUNITY SERVICE?
The deadline is JUNE 1st of the first college year and every JUNE 1st thereafter, after your scholarship is renewed.
6. WHAT IS COMMUNITY SERVICE?
Community service is any service performed for a NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION or for the benefit of your community. It has to be non-sectarian and non-paid work. No remuneration can be received for this service. If you are already receiving credit or payment in any way for serviced rendered, you CANNOT double-dip and request reimbursement for the same services.
7. HOW IS THE STIPEND DISBURSED?
The stipend is disbursed when LPF receives the Community Service Certification Form by JUNE 1st.

Any Puerto Rican/Hispanic student, residing in the New York City/New Jersey metropolitan area, who is interested in pursuing a graduate education.

3. WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GILBERT RIOS MEMORIAL AWARD?
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Participate in one of the following three LPF activities: College Tuition Assistance Program (CTA) selection process, CTA College Orientation, or mentoring a CTA student
- Enroll in Graduate/Professional school the fall term after receiving an undergraduate degree
- Provide LPF with proof of full-time enrollment and transcripts each semester
- Maintain continuous enrollment in the program. Failure to do so forfeits remainder of award
4. HOW IS THE GILBERT RIOS MEMORIAL AWARD DISTRIBUTED?
The award is disbursed in two installments.
(1) $2,500 in the fall semester
(2) $2,500 in the spring semester, after LPF receives proof of full time
enrollment and a transcript for the previous semester.

3. WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SECOND CHANCE PROGRAM?
- Completed the requirements for a high school diploma or GED in a year prior to submitting application
- Never enrolled in a postsecondary school, apprenticeship or training program
- Family or, if independent, applicant must meet federal guidelines for low income
- Must apply to an accredited school or training program
- Must be a United States citizen or legal resident
4. WHAT MUST I DO TO RECEIVE THE SECOND CHANCE PROGRAM STIPEND?
- Provide Los Padres Foundation with proof or enrollment and transcripts
- Complete 100 hours of community service by JUNE 1st the first year in the program
5. HOW IS THE SECOND CHANCE PROGRAM STIPEND DISBURSED?
The first $1000 is disbursed in two insIallments.
(1) $500 after LPF received proof of enrollment or the fall semester, and
(2) $500 after LPF receives a copy of the fall transcript and proof of
enrollment for the spring semester.
The second $1000 is disbursed when LPF receives the Community Service Certification Form by JUNE 1st.
